Athlone Sub Aqua Club has finalised its preparation of the Water Safety Cover Plan for TriAthlone 2010 which this year also incorporates the ITU European Triathlon Championship.

This plan has been produced, at the request of the organisers of TriAthlone 2010, to ensure the safety of thousands of competitors that swim in the event. In addition to planning for the safety of the competitors prior to the event, Athlone Sub Aqua Club will also be taking responsibility for co-ordinating and directing all water safety operations during 3 days of swimming competition between 1^st and 4^th July 2010.

Athlone Sub Aqua Club has been involved in providing water safety cover for TriAthlone for the past 5 years. This year it has invested a considerable amount of time in preparing the Water Safety Cover Plan which contains a large number of new features and improvements that are designed to enhance the safety of competitors. The plan includes the following material:

• Roles and Responsibilities of all water safety cover volunteers
• Communications systems, protocols and procedures
• Normal Operating Procedures that are relevant to water safety
• Frequently Asked Questions and responses
• Water Safety Cover Schedules showing, for each day, detailed maps of the positioning of water safety cover personnel and timeframes for their involvement
• Risk Assessments and measures implemented to mitigate risks
• Emergency Action Plans to address any incidents that could occur
• Emergency Plan Information Sheet containing contact details for the emergency services

A copy of this Water Safety Cover Plan will be distributed to all club members and other volunteers that are taking part in the provision of this year's water safety cover. A copy is also available in the Documents Page of this website.
